Watching a public debate on the intersection of science, faith, and atheism often reveals far more about human psychology and ego defense than it does about empirical truth. At the outset, the atmosphere was defined by measured tones, warm smiles, and lofty appeals to civilized, constructive dialogue. Yet the entire exchange soon hinged on a single, astonishing premise: the chemical engineer insisted that a sperm cell is merely an inert chemical that, upon fertilizing an egg, miraculously converts chemical energy into kinetic energy, serving as undeniable evidence of divine intervention.
The scientific confusion in this claim was immediate and profound.
